Getting started

  1. Open Logbook and choose Create journey. Give it a name, then select Next.
  2. Choose a transport mode and search for your departure and arrival places, or enter coordinates manually.
  3. Add dates and optional details, then save. Add further routes from the journey's detail screen.
  4. Open Earth to explore your routes, or Insights to review your travel footprint.

You can use Explore sample journeys in an empty Logbook, or Settings → Add demo journeys, to try six clearly labeled example routes. Samples can be deleted like other journeys.

Common questions

Do I need an account or internet connection?

No account is needed. The bundled globe, saved records, and globe-video rendering work offline. Apple Maps search, directions, and new detailed map imagery require internet access. Manual coordinates work offline.

How do I move my records to another iPhone?

On the old device, use Settings → Export backup. Save the JSON file securely. On the new device, use Settings → Import backup and select that file. Photos and route geometry are included. The optional story name and preferences are not part of the exported archive. Do this before deleting the old app.

What happens when I import a backup?

Journeys are merged by ID; matching journeys are replaced. A backup must be smaller than 200 MB, with at most 10,000 journeys, 50,000 routes, and 200,000 points per route. When there are existing records, one full pre-import recovery snapshot is kept locally. Settings → Restore before last import replaces current records with that snapshot. Export your current records first if you want to keep both. Editing a route or deleting a route or journey clears the snapshot.

My video won't save to Photos. What can I do?

Allow MyMundus to add photos/videos in iPhone Settings. If you prefer not to allow it, use Share video to export through the system share sheet. Confirm sufficient device storage and try again. You can still use the app without Photos saving permission.

How do I make an Instagram Story?

On Earth, set the year and transport filters, then tap the share icon. Create the video and preview it. Save it to Photos, open Instagram, and select it when creating a Story. MyMundus does not connect to your Instagram account or post automatically. Routes and locations remain visible in the exported video.

Video creation stopped or failed.

Keep MyMundus in the foreground while rendering. Returning to the home screen cancels rendering. Cancel the export, retry with fewer routes, and check storage. If it still fails, email support with your iPhone model, iOS version, app version, and any error text.

Why do routes or distances look approximate?

Flight arcs illustrate connections, not actual flight tracks. Train routes connect the stops you enter unless you import a GPX track. Suggested roads can differ from the route you traveled. Distances use saved geometry when present and estimates between stops otherwise. MyMundus is not a navigation tool.

Why is my country count too low?

Country totals use saved country codes. Search results usually provide them; manually entered places need an optional country selection. Some older records may lack this information. The app does not infer countries or states from coordinates.

Can I import a GPX track?

In a route editor, choose Import GPX track and select a file smaller than 20 MB. The app uses the first continuous track segment or route, up to 200,000 points. Set departure and arrival places to match your track. Disconnected segments are not automatically joined.

Why did my times change while traveling?

Dates and times are displayed in your device's current time zone. The app does not store a separate local time zone for each airport or stop.

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual routes or journeys from their detail menus. For a full reset, use Settings → Delete all local data and confirm. Exported backups, saved videos in Photos, and device backups must be deleted separately. See the Privacy Policy for retention and recovery details.

Is my backup encrypted? Is there iCloud sync?

MyMundus JSON exports are not encrypted by the app. Store them securely. There is no iCloud sync service; Apple device backups may include app data according to your settings.
